Disability Sport and Recreation Terms and Conditions
Membership is subject to acceptance by the DSRHB Committee. By submitting a membership application, you are applying to become a member of DSRHB and agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
DSRHB may request additional information where reasonably required to assess an application. The Committee may accept or decline an application for membership and will advise the applicant of its decision.
These Terms and Conditions apply to participation in DSRHB programmes and membership of DSRHB and should be read alongside the DSRHB Constitution and relevant DSRHB policies. Where there is any inconsistency, the DSRHB Constitution takes precedence.
By signing up as a member with Disability Sport and Recreation Hawke's Bay (DSRHB) you are:
Allowing DSRHB to collect and store your details in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 for the purpose of administering and servicing your membership. Requests to access, correct or update your details can be made directly to DSRHB by email at admin@disabilitysporthb.co.nz.
Agreeing to the codes of conduct and policies in place for DSRHB.
Agreeing that DSRHB may use your image for promotional purposes. For members under 18, parental or guardian consent will be required. Please refer to the Photo / Video Policy below.
Agreeing to pay your annual subscription in a timely manner. To discuss payment options, please get in touch with DSRHB.
Agreeing to be added to the DSRHB newsletter database and receive relevant information from DSRHB. You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
Agreeing to comply with any programme-specific terms and conditions that apply to activities you or the member participate in, including the DSRHB Swimming Terms and Conditions.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Participants, members, caregivers, and accompanying supporters/parents are to:
Respect the rules of the sport and follow directions and requests from instructors, coaches and DSRHB staff
Treat other participants, families, volunteers, coaches, staff and supporters with respect
Behave in a way that does not put themselves or others at risk
Encourage fair play and sportsmanship
Accompanying caregivers, supporters/parents are to:
Remain with their participant for the duration of the activity, sport or event, unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed with DSRHB in advance.
Support participants in their activity, while allowing them to participate as independently as possible
Carry all necessary medication and emergency contact details for the participant
Ensure DSRHB is aware of any relevant medical, behavioural, communication or support needs that may affect the participant's safe participation
Be responsible for participant behaviour and discipline
SUPERVISION OF PARTICIPANTS UNDER 20
Participants under 20 must have a parent, caregiver or nominated responsible adult available for the duration of the programme or event, unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed with DSRHB in advance.
The responsible adult must remain at the venue for the duration of the programme or event and be available to assist the participant if required, including in an emergency.
If the responsible adult needs to leave the venue, they must notify DSRHB staff before leaving and arrange for another nominated responsible adult to take responsibility for the participant.
DSRHB staff, coaches and volunteers are not responsible for providing individual supervision or acting as the participant's parent, caregiver or responsible adult unless this has been specifically agreed with DSRHB in advance.
PHOTO / VIDEO POLICY
Photography and video are a great opportunity to showcase our work to a wider audience. To promote our work, DSRHB may photograph or film activities, events and participants for use in online, print and social media, our newsletter, public relations material and video footage.
Material collected will be used to promote and support the work of DSRHB. Images and content may also be supplied to other organisations, such as Sport NZ, Paralympics New Zealand, Sport Hawke's Bay and participating sport organisations, or to external news media for promotional or reporting purposes.
We understand that there may be circumstances where photography or filming of participants, or the use of their images, may be sensitive. If you have concerns about photography or the use of a participant's image, please contact DSRHB at admin@disabilitysporthb.co.nz so that we can discuss any specific requirements.
For members under 18, parental or guardian consent is required before their image or video is used for promotional purposes.
FURTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For the purposes of these terms and conditions, "Event" refers to any activity, event, pilot programme, programme, sport, recreation or play organised or facilitated by DSRHB.
I acknowledge that there are risks associated with participating in sport, recreation and physical activity and understand that participation may involve risks to my / the member's wellbeing.
I understand and agree that situations may arise which are beyond the immediate control of coaches, officials, volunteers and organisers. I agree to follow reasonable instructions and take care not to endanger myself, the member or others.
I understand that coaches, instructors and volunteers are trained to support participants but may not have specialist knowledge of every disability, medical condition or individual support need.
I understand that DSRHB relies on staff, coaches, instructors and volunteers to deliver its programmes and that individual supervision or support will only be provided where this has been specifically agreed with DSRHB in advance.
I agree to provide DSRHB with accurate and up-to-date information about the member, including relevant medical conditions, allergies, medication, emergency contacts, behavioural or communication needs, and any other information that may affect their participation or safety.
I agree to inform DSRHB as soon as possible of any change in circumstances, including medical conditions, medication, support needs or contact details, that may affect the member's participation.
I understand that DSRHB may, where reasonably necessary, restrict, suspend or end a member's participation in an activity or event where their behaviour, health, safety or support needs mean that participation cannot be safely accommodated.
Neither DSRHB, the organiser, sponsors nor other parties associated with an Event shall have responsibility or liability, financial or otherwise, for loss, injury or damage arising from participation in an Event, except to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
By supplying your email address, you consent to receiving information from DSRHB, including information relating to membership, programmes, events and activities. You may unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time.
I understand that DSRHB will collect, use and store personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and DSRHB's privacy practices. I have the right to request access to, and correction of, personal information held about me / the member.
I understand that membership with DSRHB is entirely voluntary and I am free to withdraw at any time.
I understand that these terms and conditions apply for the duration of my / the member's involvement with DSRHB and may be updated from time to time. DSRHB will communicate significant changes where appropriate.
