Swimming terms & conditions, guidelines and fees information
Membership
Swimming is available to DSRHB members at the current annual membership rate.
Acceptance of terms
These Swimming Terms and Conditions should be read alongside the DSRHB Membership Terms and Conditions.
By registering for swimming, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Commitment and attendance
Swimmers are expected to attend weekly sessions throughout the term.
We understand that illness, family commitments, and other circumstances can occasionally prevent attendance.
Families should advise the pool if they are unable to attend a session.
Fees and funding
Term fees vary depending on the pool and are typically between $180 and $200 per term (as at April 2026 and subject to change).
Families contribute $55 per term.
DSRHB seeks external funding to subsidise the remaining cost and may contribute from its own reserves where funding does not fully cover programme costs.
Any fee changes will be communicated in advance.
Payments, missed sessions and cancellations
The family contribution must be paid in full before the start of the term to confirm a swimmer's place.
No refunds or make-up sessions are available for missed lessons.
Up to three missed sessions per term are included in the subsidised fee.
If more than three sessions are missed during a term, families will be responsible for the cost of any additional missed lessons. For example, if six sessions are missed, the cost of three additional lessons will apply.
If a swimmer withdraws from a term after registration, a cancellation fee may apply.
DSRHB reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, or cancel sessions if required.
Supervision
A parent, caregiver or nominated responsible adult must remain poolside or within the designated supervision/viewing area for the entire swimming session and be available to assist the participant if required, including in an emergency. Participants must not be dropped off without a responsible adult present, unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed with DSRHB in advance.
If the responsible adult needs to leave the poolside or designated supervision area during the session, they must notify the swimming instructor or pool staff before leaving and arrange for another nominated responsible adult to take responsibility for the participant.
DSRHB staff and volunteers are not present at swimming sessions and are not responsible for providing supervision during swimming sessions. Swimming sessions are delivered by the relevant aquatic facility and its staff/instructors.
Pool rules
All swimmers, parents, caregivers and accompanying supporters must follow the policies, rules and directions of the pool or aquatic facility, as well as reasonable instructions from swimming instructors and pool staff.
Participants and accompanying adults must comply with any specific safety requirements or procedures of the aquatic facility.
Automated pool messages
You may receive automated emails or notifications from the pool regarding absences or make-up lessons. These messages are system-generated and may not apply to DSRHB swimming sessions. The attendance and fee policy outlined above applies.
